چکیده

AEGCG: annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma INTRODUCTION Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma (AEGCG) is an uncommon condition belonging to the family of elastolytic granuloma, which also includes actinic granuloma, atypical necrobiosis lipoidica of the face and scalp, and Miescher’s granuloma. Classification of AEGCG as a distinct entity has been controversial. Although some consider it synonymous with actinic granuloma, a term often used interchangeably with AEGCG in the literature, others regard elastolytic granulomas as a variant of granuloma annulare. These controversies exist largely because the etiology and pathogenesis of AEGCG is still unknown. Here we describe an unusual case of AEGCG that developed after a cardiac pacemaker implantation. The circumstances that surrounded the eruption of our patient’s rash may suggest that trauma is a possible trigger for AEGCG.

Hybrid Clinical and Histopathological Pattern in Annular Lesions: An Overlap between Annular Elastolytic Giant Cell Granuloma and Granuloma Annulare?

Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma (AEGCG) is a rare granulomatous skin disease of unclear pathogenesis which belongs to the group of disorders in the skin and elastic fibers with similar clinical features of granuloma annulare (GA). This case report is intended to describe a rare hybrid pattern in histopathology demonstrating coexistence of AEGCG and GA. An endocrine disease, such as dia...

Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma produced on an old burn scar and spreading after a mechanical trauma.

Sir, Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma (AEGCG) is a rare skin disease. It is characterized clinically by annular lesions and histopathologically by giant cell elastophagocytosis on the active border of the lesion and a loss of elastic fibres in the centre in non-sun-damaged skin. The pathogenesis remains controversial. We report the case of a 32-year-old man with a unique, long-course le...

Annular Elastolytic Giant Cell Granuloma Successfully Treated with Minocycline Hydrochloride.

Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma (AEGCG) is a rare granulomatous skin disease characterised by small papules that evolve into annular/polycyclic plaques. Plaques typically have a slightly raised border; the centre may be hypopigmented and/or atrophic. Lesions are usually located on sun-exposed areas such as the face and the neck (1, 2). Histologically, AEGCG is associated with multinucl...

Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma of conjunctiva: A case report

Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma is a condition characterized histologically by damaged elastic fibers associated with preponderance of giant cells along with absence of necrobiosis, lipid, mucin, and pallisading granuloma. It usually occurs on sun-damaged skin and hence the previous name actinic granuloma. A similar process occurs on the conjunctiva. Over the past three decades only fo...
